KC Busy Bees
Mrs. Peterson and Mrs. Schreiber
On Thursday we made viking hats for the pep rally as our first maker space activity for the year. Students were provided with a variety of materials and were free to create any type of viking hat they wished.
Earlier in the week the CA Vikings visited kindergarteners to explain to them what to expect at their first Academy pep rally. The busy bees loved getting to know their senior buddies on the first day of school! After formally meeting them at convocation, KC students showed their buddies around our classroom and chose an activity to do with them using some of our classroom materials. Next seniors brought their kindergarten buddies to a cookout lunch, and after they played outside together. First Day of Kindergarten! On the first day of school students wrote their names with play-doh. When they were done playing with their play-doh some chose to pick a book from our classroom library to read at their seats. Math Explorations! This week students learned about the names and traits of various shapes. After a mini-lesson students had time to create designs using shape blocks. As Mrs. Schreiber and I visited the groups of students working we were impressed to hear students using the vocabulary they had learned earlier in the lesson. We also noticed cooperation, as students shared the blocks nicely, and some students even chose to team up and create designs as pairs or groups. Reader's WorkshopOur busy bees love to read!
